![]() In Hayden, Idaho, Mother Nature did not cooperate with Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. One young rider and three escorts braved the storm. Cold, tired, and soaked to the bone, the Lone Ranger concluded the ride by asking, "Can we just go home now, Dad?" |
![]() Near Tipton, Kansas, Doug and Tracey Palen opened 13 miles of privately owned singletrack to host kids and their families for the afternoon. The group rode about 9 miles, being sure to take time to enjoy cookies and lemonade along the way. The youngest participant, a three-year-old, rode a portion of the trail on a John Deere tricycle. Several community members volunteered their time to saddle up and supervise the young riders on the trail. |
![]() In Mexico, the Xinte Mountain Bike Club hosted 24 kids (and 77 riders in total) on a 15-mile ride. Reforma, one of the larges newspapers in Mexico, covered the ride and ran several photos. View more photos here. |
![]() Seven families from the Open Gate Nursery School in Redwood City, California, took 14 kids to the Stevens Creek Shoreline Open Space Preserve for their first trail-riding experience. Some of the parents signed up for a "Take a Parent Mountain Biking" event on Oct 23rd! The kids had a blast and were scattered everywhere: the photo shows the ones that could be rounded up at the end of the day. |
![]() The Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers (SBMTV) Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day event included educational stops within the ride. Some of the pictures are from the Monarch butterfly grove, where the kids learned about the Monarchs and their seasonal stays within the Santa Barbara area. Later, a skills clinic was held in the dirt jump area of Ellwood. |
![]() Trips for Kids Seattle, Single Track Mind Cycling club, Seattle Parks/Rec 02 program, South Park Community Center, and REI teamed up for an awsome day of riding. About 20 kids attended the ride, the "O2" program did a great job teaching the other kids how to handle their bikes, the Club provided lunch and the REI PEAK presentation was informative and fun. |
