What does IMBA do with your personal information?
IMBA respects your right to privacy. We do not sell, exchange or give away our constituents' email addresses or phone numbers.
When you provide your email or postal address to IMBA or an IMBA chapter on any online or printed material, it is implied that your are opting in to receive communications from IMBA and any IMBA chapter you select.
You will also set up a contact record in IMBA's database. Only you, IMBA staff, and if you choose to associate with an IMBA Chapter, your local chapter's leadership can view your contact record. You can edit the information available on your contact record at any time.
You may adjust your contact details or opt out of IMBA communications by:
- log in to your contact record, click "Edit" and adjust privacy settings on the "Communications Preferences" tab
- sending an email to membership [at] imba [dot] com
- Call IMBA Member Services at 1-888-442-4622.
- If you would like to be removed from direct mail lists in general, The Direct Marketing Association maintains a list of people who do not want to receive mail called a "pander file". Most direct marketers omit these people from their mailings.
What happens when I donate?
IMBA's database does not store credit card information.
When you make a contribution to IMBA or any IMBA Chapter, you are supporting the entire IMBA network and a local mountain biking chapter/s. Some details of your contribution (amount, date of donation, fund or chapter donated to) will be viewable by you, IMBA staff and your local chapter's leadership (if you are associated with a chapter) on the "Contributions" tab of your contact record.
IMBA can process anonymous donations too. If you would prefer your donation to IMBA or an IMBA chapter to remain anonymous, please contact IMBA member services.
When will IMBA contact you?
Communications may include eNews, Action Alerts and fundraising/membership solicitations. You will also receive a "Welcome To IMBA" email that allows you to choose your communications preferences. All emails from IMBA include appropriate opt-out links, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act.
IMBA Members receive renewal notices through direct mail and email as their membership expiration date approaches. Once the membership renewal is processed, notices will cease until the new expiration date approaches. Contact IMBA Member Services at email membership [at] imba [dot] com or 1-888-442-4622 to adjust renewal notice preferences.
When you provide your postal address to IMBA or an IMBA chapter, your first/last name and your postal address only may be exchanged with prequalified cycling organizations that mail offers that may be of interest to IMBA supporters. IMBA carefully vets these, as is standard practice for associations. You may opt out of these at any time.
IMBA sends direct mail to mailing lists from prequalified organizations and companies inviting individuals to join or contribute to our association. If you would prefer not to receive these you may opt out by contacting IMBA Member Services.
