Summer 2006

In July, Mark Schmidt, of IMBA's Canadian office, taught a Trail Crew Leader Training workshop - part of the 2006 Toronto Urban Hot Spot Campaign. Hosted by Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation, the workshop provided instruction for 15 passionate trailbuilders. In addition to learning about sustainable trail techniques, including basic trail construction and maintenance, the recruits studied management and recruitment skills. Toronto's trail network will benefit enormously when these newly trained crew leaders bring their crews into the field this summer and fall.

Schmidt later traveled to Whistler, BC, to conduct additional leadership training. Funding for the Whistler sessions was provided by the Whistler Legacy Fund, including monies raised in a silent auction at the IMBA Summit/World Mountain Bike Conference.
