Volume 18, Number 2
Summer 2005
Many thanks to Above-and-Beyond corporate supporter,
Quality
Bicycle Products for sponsoring IMBA's 24-Hours of D.C., April 6-7. QBP
helped pay for the event and sent their in-house advocacy guru, Gary
Sjoquist to speak to the attendees about lobbying techniques.
Corporate members
Mavic and
Hutchinson threw an IMBA fundraiser
at the
2005 Sea Otter Classic in April. The party included a photo
contest that produced several hilarious entries, while raising $1,283
for IMBA's California Legal Defense Fund.
FOX Racing Shox sponsored an IMBA California advocacy meeting at
Sea Otter. The meeting was a grand success, gathering more than 70 of
IMBA's top volunteers for roundtable discussions about contentious
mountain bike issues facing the state of California.
Yakima also stepped up to raise funds for IMBA at the Sea Otter Classic.
The company raffled off several bike racks during the weekend, with all
proceeds going to IMBA.
Corporate member
Performance recently helped the
Southern Offroad
Bicycling Association (SORBA) raise money for their local advocacy
efforts. SORBA benefited from an in-store promotion at the grand opening
of Performance locations in and around Atlanta, Georgia.
Thanks to
Jensen USA for conducting an IMBA individual membership
drive via their website and email list. The successful campaign attracted
more than 75 new IMBA members.
Finally, thanks to
Western Spirit Cycling for continuing to offer
discounted bicycle tours to IMBA members. Western Spirit has been a
key supporter for more than a decade.
