Spring 2005
IMBA corporate members Kenda and Planet Bike recently teamed up to sponsor IMBA's National Mountain Bike Patrol. Kenda is providing inner tubes to all new and renewing patrollers in 2005 while Planet Bike is supplying patrollers with a new pump, tire levers and a patch kit.
Above-and-Beyond IMBA supporter Voler Team Apparel continues to raise money for mountain bike advocacy through the sale of IMBA cycling shorts on their website, velowear.com. Voler contributes $5 to IMBA for each pair of shorts sold. Since its creation, the promotion has raised more than $6,000.
Above-and-Beyond supporters Gary Fisher and Yakima are again supporting the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew in 2005. The two fulltime, professional teams of trail experts travel yearround throughout North America and beyond, leading trailwork sessions and working with IMBA-affiliated clubs to improve mountain biking opportunities. The Crews travel in 2005 Subaru Outbacks provided by Subaru of America. The vehicles are outfitted with Yakima roof racks to carry trailwork tools, camping gear and their 2005 Gary Fisher Cake mountain bikes. This past year IMBA's two Crews led nearly 100 trail projects in 36 states and Canada. Subaru and IMBA are beginning their ninth year as partners.
IMBA and CLIF Bar will again provide financial support to IMBA affiliated clubs through IMBA/CLIF Bar Trail Preservation Grants in 2005. These grants help IMBA clubs preserve and enhance trail access, promote environmental education and inspire conservation in the mountain biking community. The company is also continuing the popular CLIF Bars for Trailwork Days program, where IMBA clubs can apply to receive CLIF Bars to fuel their trailwork projects.
