I was blown away by the IMBA Trail News issue, The Freeride Guide, I received in my mailbox today. Your discussion of freeriding is outstanding. You have done an incredible job assessing the freeride movement, deciding to support it and then taking a detailed approach to provide mountain bikers with solid information about how to develop freeride trails in their community. IMBA deserves considerable recognition for welcoming the freeride contingent, and then backing that decision by providing useful tools and materials.

The Spring 2004 IMBA Trail News was outstanding. As the president of the River Valley Mountain Bike Association (Parkersburg, West Virginia), I really appreciate the articles in this issue. Even though we don't have any problems with freeriding, I think the points outlined in many of the articles are useful, especially the advice on advocacy. The consensus view here is that freeriding is simply what some of our more experienced club members do. It's not seen as something different or bad. We have riders who like to night ride all winter, and those who don't, riders who can bunny hop into their pick-up bed and others who put their bike in more sedately. But we're all just mountain bikers.
