Fellowship of the Wheel, a Vermont Mountain Bike Advocates chapter in Burlington, Vermont, has contributed 1,375 hours of volunteer labor to Chittenden County Trails. One product: 15 miles of new singletrack.
The Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts hired IMBA Trail Solutions workhorse Rich Edwards to design and help construct an 8-mile trail in Rosaryville State Park in Maryland.
The New Jersey group, Save Mercer And Ride the Trails, installed new, four-color trail markers and trailhead system maps at Mercer County Park. The group repaired bridges and helped the Subaru/IMBA Trail Crew rehabilitate sections of trail.
The Maine Winter Sports Center held a two-day seminar in Presque Isle featuring IMBA Trails Specialist Rich Edwards, on trail design, implementation and promotion. With help from the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, the group plans to lay out new trails in 2004.
The New York City Mountain Biking Association will become part of the Staten Island Landfill advisory committee to help design trails on this 2,300-acre property next to New York City.
The New England Mountain Bike Association helped organize and execute a reforestation project of the banks of Walden Pond, birthplace of the American environmental movement. As part of National Public Lands Day, various political VIPs and open space organizations assisted.
