IMBA affiliate club Trails Have Our Respect from Omaha, Nebraska, was granted permission by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to build mountain bike trails at Lake Manawa State Park just across the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The plan calls for the construction of more than 10 miles of beginner and advanced trails by next summer. A map of the proposed trails is available at: http://members.cox.net/ resetar1/lake%20manawa.html.
The Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC) are currently designing more than four miles of new singletrack that will be accessible via the Katy Trail, a rail-trail, in St. Charles County, Missouri. This new trail increases local singletrack to 17 miles in three parks that are connected to a 10-mile stretch of the Katy Trail. More info: www.kellerhayes.com/gorc.
The Oklahoma Earthbike Fellowship (OEF) enjoyed a very successful 2003 trailbuilding and maintenance year. This ambitious club devoted more than 750 volunteer hours to major improvements on the Roman Nose, Bluff Creek and NuDraper trails. To date, the OEF has replaced severely eroded trail with more than 1,100 feet of sustainable bench-cut trail. The OEF has much more planned for 2004. For more info visit: www.okearthbike.com.
