Halfmoon Bay Sprockids is an awesome kids mountain biking program. Based north of Vancouver, this model group boasts 45 riders, more than 15 adult leaders, weekly group rides and even their own trail.

Laurie Short, a teacher at Halfmoon Bay Community School, leads the program. Supported by the school, a local bike shop, and other community members, the group has been active for more than five years. Kids from first through seventh grade meet every Friday after school to practice riding skills and explore local trails.

They are the driving force behind trail maintenance at nearby Connor Park. They have collaborated with landowners and the local parks and recreation department to build several multi-use trails in the area, including "Sprockids Run," a trail that starts on school property.
