Good things are happening in Wyoming at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. A Bikes Belong grant and a Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew visit helped bike advocates add trails, and the resort now boasts 10 miles of fun, twisty singletrack. Talks are in the works with the resort and the U.S. Forest Service to add downhill and freeride opportunities, perhaps as early as this summer. In total, 23 miles of trails have been proposed and tentatively approved by the Forest Service.

Interbike announced that its annual OutDoor Demo will expand to two days, October 10 and 11. This year's event has a new location: Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada - an IMBA Epic designation.

The U.S. Department of Defense recently announced plans to fence off a popular mountain biking area near Albuquerque, New Mexico, citing unspecified security issues. Threatened are 20 miles of the Otero Canyon Trail in Cibola National Forest. Enjoyed by mountain bikers for more than 20 years, the trail is adjacent to Kirkland Air Force Base. Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs is slated to open later this year. IMBA Trail Solutions is teaming with Arrowhead Trails to develop trails in the new 1,680-acre park. When complete, the stacked loop system will feature 12 miles of multi-use trails.
