Above-and-Beyond sponsors Bike Magazine and Santa Cruz Bicycles are again supporting the popular IMBA Epics program. IMBA has selected four outstanding routes as 2003 IMBA Epic Rides, adding to the 24 great rides we've picked since '99. For more info, visit the Epics section of imba.com.

Four bicycle groups received cash awards in the first round of 2003 IMBA/Koobi Club Assistance Grants. The $500 grants support projects that preserve and enhance trail opportunities for mountain bikers. The 2003 first-round winners are: Durango-San Juan Mountain Bike Patrol (Durango, CO), Batesville Independence Knobby Explorers (Batesville, AK), Gateway Riders (Cornwall, Ontario) and the San Diego Mountain Bike Association (San Diego, CA). Colorado Springs-based Koobi is an innovative maker of high-performance bicycle saddles. The support comes to IMBA from the Koobi Freedom Foundation, which was established in 2002 to fund important access and trail advocacy projects. Koobi and IMBA will award four more grants in 2003. The application deadline is July 1. All IMBA-affiliated clubs are invited to apply. Details at www.imba.com/resources/grants
