A Sprockids program created by the West Virginia Mountain Biking Association (WVMBA) highlights recent IMBA Sprockids growth in schools. WVMBA board member Mark Schooley secured a grant from Allegheny Power to help Sprockids clubs get started at seven West Virginia high schools. On September 14 approximately 30 mountain bikers from these schools competed in West Virginia's first high school mountain bike state championships.
In Boulder, Colorado Ray Keener has started Casey Sprockids at Casey Middle School, where his child is a student. He leads one ride a month on local trails and paths. Parents drop their children off at the school and Keener leads them on a fun ride lasting less than two hours. To make the ride appealing for all abilities, Keener gets assistance from local mountain bike racers and separates the group based on their riding experience.
