The New England Mountain Bike Association is staging a festival on October 20 to raise money to buy 47 acres in the popular Milford riding area known as Vietnam. More info: www.nemba.org.
The Maryland Association of Mountain Bike Operators (MAMBO) are busy at Loch Raven Dam. In addition to building new trails, MAMBO is working with the City of Baltimore to help preserve riding as the dam undergoes renovations.
The Jersey Off Road Bicycle Association (JORBA) donated funds to the Morris Land Conservancy to support open space and trail preservation. In addition to trail maintenance, the Allamuchy JORBA chapter has completed placement of the Dean Eberling Memorial, planted 50 trees for Arbor Day, and is mapping and marking trails within Allamuchy State Park. JORBA is also planning a new trail network in Sterling Forest Park, NY.
The IMBA club at Mt. Agamenticus, ME, is now officially a NEMBA chapter. They kicked off the re-organization with a weekend of trailwork led by IMBA Trail Specialist Rich Edwards.
Maine NEMBA has also formed to deal with trail issues in the north-central part of the state. The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is participating in a conference on October 18/19 called "Finding Common Ground" in Bethel. More info: www.BikeMaine.org.
