The New England Mountain Bike Association initiated a Land Preservation Fund to save the popular Boston trail system "Vietnam" from development. NEMBA is working with the Office of Executive Affairs, the Trustees of Reservations and Upper Charles Conservation, Inc. to broker a deal that would protect three large parcels of land that contain the technical "Vietnam" singletrack. The Delaware Valley Mountain Bike Patrol urges mountain bikers to join their monthly trail maintenance program at Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia. Visit wwww.dvmbp.org for more info.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine and the Maine Department of Conservation are hosting a trails conference for motorized and non-motorized trail users October 18-19, 2002. The coalition is also organizing trailwork days thoughout Maine. More info: www.BikeMaine.org.

The Jersey Action Riders Mountain Bike Club is celebrating their five-year anniversary by hosting a Beginner Ride Clinic Series to get young people into mountain biking. The clinic will take place the second Saturday of each month during the summer. More info: www.jerseyactionriders.org.

The Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts is leading efforts to stop legislation in Maryland that would allow seasonal hunting on Sundays. According to MORE president, Bruce Keyes, the legislation would "impact Maryland state forests and game management areas similarly to what Pennsylvania has experienced."
