Hagg Lake Park near Forest Grove, Oregon, is home to a popular 14-mile multi-use trail. The Portland Urban Mountain Pedalers (PUMP) have coordinated work on the singletrack for the past eight years, and mountain bikers are the largest user group. The park is now developing a 10-year recreation management plan. IMBA Oregon state rep Ric Balfour is part of a planning committee that will determine the trail's future. For info email Ric at .

Planning for a 2002 California Mountain Bike Advocacy Summit is underway! IMBA's four California state reps Jim & Cathy Haagen-Smit, Daniel Greenstadt, and Chuck Anderson will attend the State Trails Conference September 6-8, 2002, in Tahoe City, California, and are working to gather mountain bike advocates from the Golden State around that event. California mountain bike advocates interested in attending the State Trails Conference should email . For info on the California IMBA advocacy summit email .

Mountain bike access in IMBA's 2001 Hot Spot location Seattle continues to improve. The Backcountry Bicycle Trail Club (BBTC) and Washington State Parks will meet in April to discuss future mountain biking opportunities in Moran State Park on Orcas Island. Trails in the park are currently closed to bikes, but BBTC's work to promote sustainable trails is making a positive impression with land managers.

IMBA California state rep Chuck Anderson will write future ITN Pacific Backyard columns. Send him West Coast info at .
