MORE is working hard to develop greater trail access in these areas and are concerned that unsanctioned trail construction might scuttle their efforts. To find a MORE workday, go to more-mtb.org.
New Hampshire's White Mountains NEMBA has signed an MOU with the U.S. Forest Service to assume trail maintenance activities in the Moats Mountain/Hales area, and the group has recently built a technical three-mile singletrack on Black Cap Mountain.
Encompassing more than six million acres near Lake Placid, New York, Adirondack Park could become a prime mountain biking destination. This is the goal of the Adirondack Park Mountain Biking Initiative, which now includes support from 21 organizations and 24 towns in the area. The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew recently held three trail building workshops attended by representatives from the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Adirondack Park Agency, the Olympic Regional Development Authority, and reps from eight area towns.
