Medora, North Dakota, sees mountain bike tourism as an opportunity for regional economic development. When IMBA came to town in August to dedicate the Maah Dah Hey Trail as an IMBA Epic, the town pulled out all the stops. Local mountain bikers, the ND Department of Tourism, ND Parks and Recreation, USFS, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Foundation and community leaders all participated in the trailwork day and dedication ceremonies. Michigan IMBA state rep Dan Harrison has created a new booklet titled "A Mountain Biker's Guide to Drummond Island" that describes and maps trails and dirt roads on this scenic Upper Peninsula island.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources commended the Michigan Mountain Biking Association (MMBA) booklet as a model approach to visitor education. Harrison and MMBA executive director Roger Dyjak attended a Drummond Island town meeting in July that focused on recreation. An outcome of the meeting was the formation of new partnerships among Drummond trail user groups. Info: .

Ohio mountain bikers hosted an IMBA Trailbuilding School this October. The event was filled to capacity with bike clubs, hiking and equestrian groups, and state and local trails managers. A highlight of the weekend was the Central Ohio Mountain Bike Association's infamous Halloween night ride.
