Fall 2001
- The fourth annual Kona Bowling Tournament at Interbike in Las Vegas raised
nearly $10,000 for IMBA. More than 300 bike industry leaders commandeered all 70
lanes at the Orleans Casino Oct. 2 to bowl three games as a benefit for IMBA's
worldwide trail advocacy efforts. Special thanks to Carson Stanwood of Stanwood
Partners Public Relations in Jackson, Wyoming, who donated $1,200 to IMBA during
the event - 100 bucks for each strike rolled in the first frame of the night.
Kona, an Above-and-Beyond IMBA corporate supporter, coordinated, paid for and set
the tone for the high-spirited event. The Kona bowling tourney has raised more
than $24,000 for IMBA since '98.
- IMBA thanks Interbike for their generous support of a new trailbuilding
manual. Building Better Trails is a 72-page booklet covering the design,
construction and maintenance of sustainable trails. Print a PDF from IMBA's
website now or wait until January to order hard copies ($10 each) through IMBA's
online store. Since 1992, Interbike has been an IMBA Above-and-Beyond Corporate
Supporter. Now in its 20th year, Interbike is North America's largest and most
comprehensive trade event for the bicycle industry.
- eBay, the world's online marketplace, has joined IMBA as a corporate member
and has paid for a shipment of custom work gloves to help support volunteer
trailworkers. The leather gloves feature both the eBay and IMBA logos and are
being distributed to IMBA-affiliated mountain bike clubs coast-to-coast and
beyond.
- Kenda's popular Klaw XT tire will soon carry IMBA's Long Live Long Rides
logo. A portion of the tire sales will be donated to IMBA.
