The Central Virginia Mountain Bike Association held its first IMBA Trailbuilding School in April. The school was led by the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew and sponsored by Bikes Unlimited, Star Imports (a Subaru dealer), Clif Bar, and Lynchburg Parks & Recreation. An additional class held on Monday focused on the "Politics of Trailbuilding" and was attended by local government officials.

SORBA-CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) has built a new 7-mile loop at Hickory Knob State Park near McCormick, SC. A grand opening ceremony is planned for National Trails Day, June 2. Construction was made possible in part by a federal grant. Additional work has begun on another 4-mile trail and improvements to the Long Cane Horse and Wine Creek Trails. Details: www.sorbacsra.com. In Augusta, GA, SORBA has gained permission to build trails on a 500-acre Boy Scout camp in Richmond County.

Members of the Northeast Tennessee Mountain Bike Association are helping shape the future Cherokee National Forest Trails Plan. Visit www.ntmba.org to get involved.

Arkansas' Womble Trail - designated an IMBA Epic last year - was heavily damaged by an ice storm this past winter. Ice downed an estimated 60-80 trees per mile. The Forest Service called on the Hot Springs Bicycle Association to help with the clean up. The work will last several months. Email to lend a hand.

North Florida riders: the Suwannee Bicycle Association's website (www.suwanneebike.org) provides riding info for 10 different sites and more than 80 miles of trails.
