The world-famous #401 trail in Crested Butte received a face-lift Aug. 19-20. The Crested Butte Mountain Bicycling Association improved stream crossings and eliminated wretched mud bogs. The club also provided free food and drink to volunteers. Thanks to Thin Air Software, New Belgium Brewing Company and Clif Bar for providing the goodies.
Colorado's Western slope groups, the Grand Valley Bike Patrol and the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association, will dedicate a new trail in honor of long-time mountain bike advocate, past Colorado State BLM director and all around nice guy Bob Moore. Construction of the "Moore Fun Trail" began September 9th. This new extension of the Kokopelli Trail system will continue east from the Mack Ridge Trail. Both trails are the brainchild of none other than Bob Moore himself.
Thanks to Team GT Pro racer Greg "Chopper" Randolph who donated a Spinergy mountain bike wheelset to IMBA for auction on mtbREVIEW.com. The ill-reputed "Chopper" has recently moved to a tent in Colorado's San Juan mountains with his family. They'll be working for the San Juan Hut Systems. If you're interested in booking a great mountain bike or backcountry ski trip, call 970-209-8351.
Note to self: reschedule mountain bike trip to Montana. More than six million acres of land have been temporarily closed to the public this summer due to fires that have burned over 300,000 acres thus far.
