The Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts celebrated National Trails Day by building a new singletrack at Gambrill State Park in Frederick, MD. The trail was a product of months of planning and work with a multi-user committee appointed by Maryland's Department of Natural Resources. Check out www.more-mtb.org for details.
A Maine mountain biking group has been created in response to possible mountain biking restrictions on Mt. Agamenticus. The Agamenticus Region Mountain Bike Association formed after a meeting with local landowners who recently created a draft map proposing bike restrictions. For more info contact Steve Cole at 603-433-6328 or visit www.armba.org.
NEMBA's Greater Boston Chapter has proposed the Middlesex Fells MDC allow the group to mark additional mountain bike loops in the park, adding to the existing 6.5-mile NEMBA loop. Boston riders should contact their state congressmen to voice support. A copy of the proposal is available at www.nemba.org.
More New Jersey riders are getting involved in access issues. The statewide group JORBA receives regular calls from Jersey mountain bikers wanting to help in their local area. By the end of the year, JORBA hopes most riding areas in the state will be adopted by bicyclists. Jersey activists recently got a boost from the 24 Hours of Allamuchy, which donated $1,000 to the Allamuchy Mountain Bike Patrol/Trail Maintenance Chapter of JORBA.
