- Phoenix, AZ
"In late April we worked on the Arizona Trail with some of the folks who are turning this 790-mile dream into a reality. We were able to lend a hand on the Boulder section of the Black Hills passage. Twenty volunteers worked most of the day on nearly 1,000 feet of tread construction. We were able to help solve a difficult water-crossing problem. Dedicated volunteers from the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona, Intel employees, Arizona Trails Association volunteers and other individuals drove more than three hours to work on this remote piece of singletrack."
- Chino Hills, CA
"Spent Cinco de Mayo at Chino Hills State Park, CA, doing trailwork. Volunteers worked passionately, opening up more singletrack in the beautiful hills of Southern California. We're amazed at the dedication of the clubs in California and their devotion to the trails, environment and community. During our latest swing through California, we visited more than 15 trail systems managed by California State Parks, U.S. Forest Service and Open Space parks. "
- Jackson Hole, WY
"On June 3, under crystal blue skies, more than 50 people converged at the Wilson Elementary School in Jackson Hole. Projects included wetlands planting along the Wilson Centennial Trail, barbwire fence removal along the Snake River, trailhead cleanup and sign-work at Mosquito Creek and Teton Pass, and maintenance on Phillips Canyon Trail.
We led a crew up Phillips Canyon Trail to build rolling grade dips. We worked closely with the Forest Service staff and volunteers, discussing sustainable multi-use trail design and maintenance."
- Bismarck, ND
"Ron Luethe invited us to stay in Bismarck, North Dakota. Ron is a renowned birder, trail builder, soils scientist, mapping wizard and ND IMBA state rep. On a beautiful Saturday, 12 volunteers from the Dakota Roughriders joined us on trails at Pioneer Park in Bismarck. We looked at trail design improvements and laid out two massive rolling crown switchbacks. Passerbys were curious about our project, and two TV news teams stopped by for interviews. This section will help link three miles of scenic trail, overlooking the Missouri River."
- Rapid City, SD
We spent Saturday assessing and re-establishing tread near Highway 44. Sunday we rode one of the finest examples of trail design we've ever seen: the Alkali Creek to Elk Creek section of the Centennial Trail. The next day we assessed more trails, finding some amazing potential. With some contour adjustments the trail system could double or triple in length, offering killer views and twisty forest challenges! What a great spring - finding so many fantastic trails all throughout the west."
