Colorado's legendary Kokopelli Trail, which begins just west of Fruita, now has a new section. The challenging new singletrack was built last fall by the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association (www.rmwest.com/copmoba), with the help of IMBA's Trail Care Crew 2, Joey Klein and Kathy Summers.
Trail crowding in Grand Junction and Fruita, Colorado, prompted the Bureau of Land Management to host a summit last fall.
In other Western Slope news, the Environmental Impact Statement for the Travel Management Revision of the Uncompahgre National Forest has been released. The draft version of the document broke new ground with its recognition of singletrack as an important multiple use resource.
Boulder, Colorado's local club BOA (Boulder Offroad Alliance) has hired Dirk Vinlove as its new Executive Director. BOA is a vocal, active club with more than 200 members. (www.boa-mtb.org).
