The Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association (TMBRA) recently donated $1,000 to IMBA on behalf of Sun & Ski Sports, the winner of the 1999 Texas State Team Challenge competition. The team challenge is run in conjunction with the Texas State Mountain Bike Championship Series, and this year the race among the 12 teams was close and exciting. Each team in the team challenge contributed an entrance fee that was then donated to IMBA in the name of the winning team.

TMBRA also announced the WTB Paydirt winners for the 1999 season. In addition to the first place points given for 10 hours of work, Texas Paydirt awarded prizes, with each additional five hours of work earning another chance at a prize.

TMBRA is proud of the Wilderness Trail Bikes Paydirt program that is now in its 4th year. 1999 saw 183 racers working at least 10 hours in 46 different park locations throughout Texas. 211 racers participated in the program, racking up 2,556 hours. The Texas Parks and Wildlife values volunteer labor at $6.20 an hour, so Texas racers proudly contributed $15,850 of value to the trail system and mountain biking in the Lone Star State.
