Leaders of the Wisconsin Off-Road Bicycling Association (WORBA) planned for the next century at their annual membership meeting, held in March in Madison. Now 10-years-old, WORBA has recently grown from two to more than 15 chapters.

In a number of small roundtable discussions, members addressed such issues as fund-raising, marketing, land acquisition, trail maintenance and recreational and competitive event planning.

Unfortunately, WORBA looks toward the future without the leadership of two key individuals. Chris Kegel, past president of WORBA, will step down to focus more on his role as a board member of IMBA. Bob Inda, former membership director, will also move on to allow new people to contribute.

"Both Chris and Bob have been instrumental in building WORBA to what it is today," said Scott Frey, IMBA's Wisconsin state representative, who will serve as acting president of WORBA until the organization holds elections later this year. "Neither is resigning because they've lost an interest in WORBA or our efforts, and we will continue to count on their support."

WORBA's conference and "Pump Up the Volume" membership drive were sponsored by Planet Bike, Cannondale, SRAM, Grip Shift, and the Chequamegon Fat Tire 40.
