Thanks to generous funding from RockShox, IMBA has awarded the first round of '99 club assistance grants to seven affiliate organizations. Each selected IMBA group receives $250.

  • Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (CLIMB) of New York will use their grant to help fund the completion of erosion control projects on a 26-mile shared-use trail 60 miles east of New York City.
  • The North Raleigh Mountain Bike Association (North Carolina) will purchase signage for singletrack in a popular area outside of Raleigh.
  • The Westark Trailblazers (Ft. Smith, Arkansas), busy laying out new singletrack, will use the grant to purchase a global positioning and guidance system to mark and map trails.
  • Gary Sjoquist, IMBA's Minnesota state representative, organized riders, a local shop, a land manager and employees from Quality Bicycle Products to build a raft across Nine Mile Creek, a significant crossing for cyclists riding the 10-mile Bloomington River Bottom Trail.
  • The Hawaii Mountain Bike Advisory Committee (HMBAC), which is creating great opportunities for island cyclists, will use its grant to purchase a weedeater to trim fast-growing tropical vegetation along Hawaii singletrack.
  • Trails4All, a non-profit shared trails organization in Orange County (California), received a grant to support their youth trail boss training program. Trails4All is dedicated to building a strong trails community and improving recreation opportunities for all trail users in densely populated southern California.
  • Mammoth Area Mountain Bike Association (MAMBO) in northern California will build an information kiosk at a new city park trailhead.

RockShox has been IMBA's No. 1 bicycle industry supporter since '96. RockShox supports IMBA's multi-faceted work to keep trails open for mountain bikers and also funds the IMBA grants programs that provide cash and trailwork tools to member organizations.
