Each year, the staff of the Nantahala Outdoor Center in western North Carolina donates a day's pay to an organization of their choice. IMBA was one of 30 recipients of the 1998 contribution day and received $725 from NOC.

When asked why he donated to IMBA, NOC Bike Shop Manager Kent Cranford said simply, "It's the best place to put my personal money."

Part of NOC's mission statement calls for the company "to participate actively and considerately in the larger community." As an outfitter utilizing mountain bike trails throughout the Southeast, the Center benefits from its affiliation with IMBA and helps mountain bikers to enjoy riding in the area. This November, NOC and IMBA will co-host the third annual Trail Construction Camp, the National Mountain Bike Patrol Instructor Training Clinic, and an IMBA board meeting.
