Make plans now to attend the 14th National Trails Symposium in Tucson, Arizona, November 13-17, 1998. The theme is "Trails and the American Spirit."
American Trails cordially invites you to join the country's leading trails enthusiasts, advocates, and professionals. The Symposium is held every two years, and is brought to you by American Trails.
The 1998 Symposium will feature cutting-edge sessions delivered by respected national authorities, an array of terrific programs, events and field trips, daily recreation opportunities, an impressive exhibition hall, and much more. The location is the Doubletree Hotel, in sunny Tucson.
IMBA staff and board members will lead discussions, host a 10th Anniversary reception, guide a ride for participants, and hold a board meeting during the event.
Many of America's important trails issues are being tackled in the Tucson area, such as public land access, growth and development, urban greenways, shared use of trails, mountain bike trails in national parks, volunteer development, and travel management on federal lands.
Tucson is an outstanding "Trails Town," and has something to offer every variety of trails enthusiast. The city is surrounded by 700,000 acres of local, state, and federal public lands -- including a national park and a large national forest -- with many miles of world-class hiking, mountain biking, equestrian, motorized, and accessible trails.
The 1998 Symposium will be chaired by IMBA board member Steve Anderson, who is the Trails and Open Space Coordinator for Pima County, and Jim Coffman, Trails Planner for the City of Scottsdale and winner of the 1996 American Trails award for Trails Advocacy.
