IMBA is proud to be a leading sponsor of the 2008 National Bike Summit, hosted by the League of American Bicyclists. We hope you'll join us March 4-6 in Washington, D.C. as we gather with hundreds of passionate cyclists to walk the halls of Congress and show the power of our numbers. The Summit also includes an informative day of concurrent sessions covering the most important cycling issues, including those for mountain biking.
Register with IMBA
To help you attend this very important event, Bikes Belong and the League have extended a generous offer to IMBA supporters for a significantly discounted conference rate. Register with IMBA and receive IMBA's reduced rate. Be sure and tell your mountain biking friends who plan to attend to register through IMBA.com as well.
Meet with Movers and Shakers in D.C.
The annual Summit is the premier bicycle advocacy event in our nation's capital and is truly a highlight for advocates. Mountain and road cyclists come together to lobby as a unified front to preserve trails and trail funding, and advocate for other bicycling issues. We will make everything easy for you with talking points, handouts and scheduling your meetings -- all you have to do is show up.
Who should attend? IMBA Reps, club leaders, bike shop owners -- any mountain bike advocates who are working on access, recreation and trail funding issues. Don't underestimate the power of D.C. advocacy! Visiting your congressional representatives is an extremely effective way to advance local trail and funding issues.
Raising the Money to Attend
Finding money to fund your trip to the National Bike Summit might be easier than you think. Ask local bike shops, mountain bike clubs and your state's cycling association. While in D.C., you'll be spreading a message that benefits all cyclists, so make sure to go beyond mountain biking-only organizations and think all bike-related groups for support. Scholarships are available through IMBA -- contact for more information.
The National Bicycle Dealers Association is also offering 25 scholarships worth up to $1,000 each to NBDA dealer members who have not attended past National Bike Summits. Visit the NBDA website for more information and apply by January 16, 2008.
