The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) seeks a full-time grassroots campaign manager to plan and execute advocacy access campaigns across the U.S. and around the world. This position is based in Boulder, CO.

IMBA’s Grassroots Campaign manager is the lead organizer and planner for IMBA’s many state and regional access and advocacy campaigns. The position leads our volunteer-based network as the chief policy analyst, strategist, researcher and writer that works with IMBA clubs and land managers on opportunities for mountain biking. The grassroots leader works as part of an integrated team to advance strategic goals.

IMBA’s Grassroots Campaign manager works with the federal and state public land agencies and organizes and coaches IMBA clubs around legislation, regulations and key public policy issues. The manager will lead IMBA’s endeavors at the National Bike Summit in Washington, DC, and help shape policy on many of the national coalitions to which IMBA belongs.

Position Goals:

  • Advance strategic policy goals through grassroots mountain bike campaigns
  • Build IMBA club political clout and effectiveness
  • Forward IMBA’s public land protection goals
  • Ensure mountain bike representation on key planning, access and advocacy issues
  • Employ social media to engage and inspire activists
  • Create programmatic templates to maximize club effectiveness

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in public lands, natural resources, environment, forestry, law or related area and/or two years experience in related field
  • Strong familiarity with public lands management, planning, the National Environmental Policy Act, Forest Service and National Park Service regulations
  • Experience organizing grassroots volunteers and social media campaigns
  • Superb writing and editing skills
  • Understanding of advocacy, membership, fundraising and non-profit fundamentals
  • Energetic, creative, positive personality with ability to work as a team-player and autonomously
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Mac operating systems, databases, social networking
  • Ideal candidate is an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for mountain biking

Compensation
