Celebrated on the first Saturday of each October, the next edition of IMBA’s International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is just days away. This year’s turnout will be the largest ever, with more than 7,100 kids registered and ready to ride their bikes in 167 official events.
“We are thrilled with the participation numbers for this year’s event,” says Executive Director Mike Van Abel. “Kids already love to ride their bikes, but this IMBA program helps connect them with quality trails and great bike parks. Add the support provided by our dedicated volunteer ride leaders and these kids get the best possible mountain biking experience.”

This year, the National Park Service is teaming up with Trips For Kids to bring young riders into national parks for a Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day ride. The kids will learn from park rangers and even complete a small service project so they can give back to the land.

More About the Ride

International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day will be celebrated in a dozen countries in 2009. The program enjoys generous support from the following sponsors:

  • Bureau of Land Management
  • Children & Nature Network
  • CLIF Kid
  • Jack Doub Memorial Endowment
  • National Park Service
  • Smartwool
  • Trips for Kids
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day celebrates the life of Jack Doub, an avid teenage mountain biker from North Carolina who had a true passion for the sport from an early age to the time when he passed away in 2002.
