The IMBA/FE UK Trailbuilding Crew led a trailbuilding school at Coed Y Brenin, Wales over the weekend of August 25-26. The event included a slideshow of trails from all over the world, great riding and the construction of a brand new trail section on the Karrimor route. 25 riders from Wales, England and Scotland learned how to build fun, technical trails that are sustainable and easy to maintain.

"The school was a top way to spend a weekend: We learned how to build a durable trail, got plenty of time to ride both days and are going home ready to build our own trails with FE in our local forest," said attendee Nathan Grigsby.

The UK Trailbuilding Crew will lead four trailbuilding schools across Wales, England and Scotland this season. The team is modeled after the highly successful Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew that has led trailbuilding and maintenance projects worldwide since 1997.

"The IMBA/FE UK Trailbuilding Crew is the next step in IMBA's strategy to improve trail access for UK mountain bikers," said Judd de Vall, IMBA's international coordinator. "The crew's goal is to help riders to work with FE to build more trails in more forests around the UK. At the end of the day, this will be good for riders, good for the environment and good for the UK bicycle industry."

The IMBA/FE UK Trailbuilding Crew's schedule is:

  • August 25-26 Coed-y-Brenin, Wales
  • September 1-2 Dalby, England
  • September 7-8 Afan Argoed, Wales
  • September 14-15 Mabie Forest, Scotland

Members of the UK bicycle trade are encouraged to become corporate members of IMBA and contact IMBA regarding sponsorship of IMBA's programs in the UK. For more information, please contact
