The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew recently completed a successful three-week tour of California marked by high-level land manager meetings and well-attended trailwork sessions. The work of the Trail Care Crew and all the volunteers who joined them will go a long way toward improving trail access for mountain biking in the Golden State.
In 22 days, the Crew worked in 20 different locations in San Diego, Crestline, Orange County, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Marin County, and Berkeley.
Here's a quick look at the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew's California visit:

Mountain Bike Association. Representatives from nearly every land management
agency in the San Diego area and the region attended this very successful event
which focused on model trail systems and proper trail design to mitigate user
conflict, minimize erosion and protect natural settings.
- Leading a Trailbuilding School for the Rim of the World Trails
Association, a group that is building a 100-mile singletrack trail through the
San Bernardino mountains.
- Leading Trailbuilding Schools in Orange County with local IMBA club
Trails-4-All for advanced crew leaders and law enforcement officers who oversee
community service workers and inmates.
- A Trailbuilding School for new trails personnel and volunteers at the
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ft. Ord office in the Monterey area (home of the
Sea Otter Classic).
- Meeting with advocates and land management personnel to assess trails in
San Luis Obispo, Marin County and Berkeley.
- Helping lead a 103-person trailwork and BBQ extravaganza in Santa Barbara with the folks from Chris King components and Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Association.
