After three years providing support to the National Mountain Bike Patrol (NMBP) program, Planet Bike is stepping up to the plate again to support the NMBP in 2008.

The Madison, WI, company supports the program by donating products, like the Compack saddlebag and Mini Versair pumps, for use as premium gifts to renewing members of the NMBP. Also, all current NMBP members enjoy the additional benefit of pro-deal pricing on Planet Bike products, direct from the company. Patrollers receive these great benefits because Planet Bike believes in the NMBP's mission, as their advocacy coordinator, Jay Ferm, explains: "You can't get much more grassroots than the NMBP and IMBA. You folks are on the trails looking out for the riders."

While many companies in the bicycle industry are strong supporters of IMBA and other advocacy groups, Planet Bike leads the way by giving 25 percent of their profits to advocacy causes. Ferm explains, "Gandhi said, 'Be the change you want to see in the world.' We see bikes transforming our society, helping fix our energy and health problems. To help this change happen we support grassroots bicycle advocacy groups across the country. It's the grassroots that are driving American communities to become bike friendly."

The NMBP is privileged to be one of the organizations that Planet Bike has chosen to support. As we look forward to another great year of patrolling, we once again thank Planet Bike for its ongoing commitment to IMBA, the NMBP and, of course, the greater advocacy cause.
