Concluding a national search, IMBA has selected Patti Bonnet as its new Events Coordinator. Her hiring reflects IMBA's expanded emphasis on events and on-the-ground opportunities to energize the mountain biking community.
Bonnet has a background in journalism, including writing and production positions with "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer" and ABC News. Her event planning experience includes stints as the production manager for the Telluride Film Festival, as coordinating producer for HDNet, and as the locations specialist for the Colorado Film Commission. Bonnet recently visited southern Sudan, where she produced and directed a film about local Sudanese "lost boy" refugees. She holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins.
In her first month at the Boulder office, Bonnet has already helped launch a new program for women riders, to be held in conjunction with the Dirt Series by Rocky Mountain Bicycles this summer. She is also developing a fundraising program similar to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's popular "Team in Training" drive. The IMBA version will bring riders to this October's 24 Hours of Moab event, and will raise money for healthy, trail-based recreation.
Bonnet works from IMBA's Boulder, Colorado, office. She can be reached at 303-545-9011 ext. 107, or via e-mail at .
