IMBA Seeks E-Commerce and Development Associate

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) seeks a dynamic individual to join the development department at our offices located in Boulder, CO. The Development Associate manages IMBA's online store and e-commerce sales of books, clothing, accessories and IMBA branded merchandise. He/she also coordinates strategic business development projects and fund-raising initiatives, including: corporate and retail partnerships, support for major donors, grant research and writing, and support for the development department. This position reports to the Development Director and works closely with the entire IMBA team to advance the sport of mountain biking worldwide.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate E-commerce and IMBA retail sales program (40%)
    1. Determine product offerings: Research, design and manage orders
    2. Analyze product performance (sales trends, costs, etc.)
    3. Work with development team to implement a strategy for increasing sales
    4. Manage inventory and vendor relationships
    5. Maintain online store and Convio eCommerce functions
    6. Assist with creation of member/appeal premium gifts
    7. Advise National Mountain Bike Patrol Coordinator on product matters
  2. Coordinate business development and fund raising initiatives(50%)
    1. Execute major donor renewal campaigns
    2. Execute major donor special appeal campaigns
    3. Perform all data entry for major donors and corporate supporters
    4. Manage process for thanking major donors and corporate supporters
    5. Manage fulfillment for major donors and corporate supporters
    6. Create and distribute quarterly eNewsletters targeting major donors and corporate supporters
    7. Coordinate special development print and communications projects
    8. Provide support in fulfilling corporate sponsorship deals
    9. Identify and solicit 20 new potential corporate members per year
    10. Research major donor prospects and manage a portfolio of donors
    11. Research grant opportunities and apply for new foundation or government grants per year
    12. Provide logistical support for fundraising/development events
    13. Perform other duties as assigned by Development Director
    14. Responsible for achieving an annual fund raising goal
  3. Additional Responsibilities (5%)
    1. Assist with communications, marketing and graphic design projects as needed
    2. Assist with publishing projects as needed
    3. Answer IMBA telephone at Level 2.
    4. Contribute to the cleaning, appearance and organization of common office areas and kitchen.
  4. Coordinate Bike Patrol Fundraising (5%)
    1. Manage Patrol membership team and assign duties
    2. Execute patrol membership campaigns
    3. Monitor effectiveness of Patrol membership campaigns
    4. Train and advise NMBP Coordinator on membership and program matters

Required Qualifications

  1. Two to three years of fundraising or business development experience, with experience preferred in the areas of e-commerce, corporate development, sponsorship and/or fundraising and membership campaigns.
  2. College degree in a related field.
  3. Understanding of government and foundation grant making processes. Successful grant writing experience preferred.
  4. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  5. Attention to detail and strong time-management and organizational skills.
  6. Strong computer skills with experience with fundraising databases, MS Office, Mac preferred
  7. Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  8. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an energetic personality who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

We currently have 16 staff members and 8 volunteer directors.

Our principal projects include the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, the National Mountain Bike Patrol, IMBA Trailbuilding Schools, National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, IMBA Epic Rides , IMBA Trail Solutions Program, various grantmaking programs, and a variety of educational efforts that comprise international, national, regional, state and local efforts.
