Shimano Canada, the International Mountain Bicycling Association and Cycling BC will present the first-ever British Columbia Mountain Bike Access Summit. The summit will bring mountain bike leaders together from all of British Columbia between May 12-13 in Squamish, BC Canada.
Increasing environmental and liability concerns are having a significant impact on trailbuilding and mountain bike access in Canada and all parts of the world. In the coming years, the future of our culture and sport will depend on a spirit of trust and cooperation that cyclists and trailbuilders develop with land managers. The weekend summit will feature roundtable discussions and casual workshops aimed at helping attendees improve bicycle access to trails.
Attendees will learn strategies on how to establish and manage a mountain bike club, carry out successful media communications and work with land managers to enhance mountain bike access in their region. By the end of the weekend, we also hope to cooperatively develop a leadership strategy for continued preservation and enhancement of mountain bike access in British Columbia.
The conference will be hosted by the Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association and is being sponsored by Shimano Canada, Howe Sound and Brewing Company and the Test of Metal.
Cost of the conference is $40 which includes all conference costs, breakfast and lunch on Satruday and Sunday, a BBQ on Saturday night, free camping and plenty of riding on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The conference will be hosted by the Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association and is being supported by Shimano Canada. Other supporters include the Howe Sound and Brewing Company, the Test of Metal, Norco and Powerbar.
