Subaru of America, Inc. today announced that it has extended its support of the acclaimed Subaru/International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew through 2009. Launched in 1997, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program has led more than 1,000 trail projects, trained more than 50,000 people in sustainable trailbuilding techniques and logged nearly one million miles of coast-to-coast travel in Subaru vehicles.

"Subaru is pleased to extend its decade-long partnership with IMBA," said Tim Mahoney, senior vice president and CMO, Subaru of America, Inc. "We are extremely proud of what this innovative program has accomplished and look forward to supporting this educational and worthwhile program going forward."

Now entering its eleventh year, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program includes two full-time, professional teams of trail experts who travel North America in specially outfitted Subaru vehicles. The Crews lead IMBA Trailbuilding Schools, meet with government officials and land managers, and work with IMBA-affiliated groups to improve mountain biking opportunities. Details about the Crews and their recent projects are available online.

"The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program is IMBA's flagship outreach effort. The Crews advance stewardship practices and promote trail access among land managers and the outdoor recreation community," says IMBA Executive Director Mike Van Abel. "Subaru's renewed sponsorship will enable us to meet the growing demand for trail education and stewardship training."

Subaru support for IMBA extends beyond the Trail Care Crew program. As an "Above and Beyond" corporate sponsor, the company helps promote trail and environmental stewardship and healthy recreation on a global level.
