IMBA is proud to be a leading sponsor of the 2007 League of American Bicyclists' National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. The Summit, held annually, is the premier bicycle advocacy event in our nation's capital, bringing together cyclists from all over the country to influence lawmakers and share strategies.

IMBA's increased involvement will bring mountain and road cyclists together to lobby as a unified front to preserve trails, trail funding and more. To help advocates attend this very important event, IMBA is making registration available to mountain bikers at a reduced rate and will host several dirt-centric sessions and gatherings. You'll have the choice of attending the entire conference or a two-day session focusing on lobbying Capitol Hill. We want to make sure you can attend the National Bike Summit on March 13-16, 2007.

Register Through IMBA

Visit IMBA's registration website for mountain bike attendees. The site will have National Bike Summit information, resources specific to mountain bikers and will be the only place to receive our special reduced rate. Plan to have at least one leader from your club attend the Summit and be sure to tell mountain biking friends to register through IMBA.

By attending, you and other mountain bikers from your state have a unique chance to speak with decision-makers about pressing mountain bike issues in your home state or district. You'll also get to network with other mountain bike advocates from around the country, share ideas, learn about the newest trends, and become more effective in your local access issues.

The Time is Now to Visit D.C.

It's been two years since IMBA's "24 Hours of D.C" event and new Congressional members and staff need to hear from you. Now more than ever, mountain biking interests must be represented when Congress debates important Wilderness bills, trail funding programs, and land manager budgets. Visiting your congressional representatives is a simple, yet extremely effective way to advance local and national trail and funding issues.

Getting Someone Else to Pay Your Way

Finding money to fund your trip to the National Bike Summit might be easier than you think. Ask local shops, mountain bike clubs and your state's cycling association. While in D.C., you'll be spreading a message that benefits all cyclists, so make sure to go beyond mountain biking-only organizations and think all groups bike-related.
