The International Mountain Bicycling Association will hold the first-ever international mountain bike patrol training conference this spring in Italy.

The conference will be held March 9-11, 2001 in the coastal Mediterranean town of Finale Ligure. Attendees will learn mountain bike patrol procedures including patrol organization, on-the-trail assistance techniques, first aid skills and bike repair.

The IMBA Mountain Bike Patrol program emphasizes assistance, information and education, not enforcement. More than 75 affiliated patrol groups provide valuable trail services throughout the USA, Canada and Japan.

Following the conference, newly certified mountain bike patrollers will return to their home regions where they will start new patrol groups, train patrollers, and expand the worldwide network of this growing program.

For more information on the conference please contact Mauro Bertolotto in Italy ( ) or IMBA in the USA (

The International Mountain Bicycling Association is a non-profit organization. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain biking by encouraging low-impact riding, volunteer trailwork participation, cooperation among different trail user groups, and innovative trail management solutions.
