In late September of 2005, the Forest Service released Revised Land and Resource Management Plans for Southern California's Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino National Forests. "Their decision to support alternative 4A is good news," says IMBA's Jim Hasenauer. "This is a credit to the high-road commitments, partnerships and involvement of the mountain bicycling community."

The plans are final (they can only be challenged through formal appeals), but riders still have important work to do: 1) attend public meetings in October and November (the first is scheduled for Oct. 11), 2) thank the Forest Service for responding to our issues, 3) check the latest maps to make sure that unofficial (non-system) trails are added to the official inventory, and 4) check out the maps of proposed Wilderness areas to make sure trails we ride aren't banned.

Read the complete plans, find meeting times/places and read a Forest Service FAQ.
