IMBA Teams with Mountain Bike Australia to Improve Trails Down UnderIMBA trail specialist Joey Klein visited Australia in October, 2003, to share knowledge and experience on mountain bike management, trailbuilding, conflict resolution and volunteer group mobilization. Working in partnership with Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA), Joey made stops in Brisbane, Queensland; Tumbarumba, New South Wales; Canberra, ACT; Melbourne, Victoria; and Launceston, Cradle Mountain and Hobart, Tasmania. The IMBA trip, funded by MTBA and supported by agencies in Queensland and Tasmania, was Joey's second to Australia in as many years. At each destination, Joey met with local mountain bikers, connected with area land managers, lead discussions on trail access issues, presented slideshows displaying IMBA's work around the world, and shared advice on trailbuilding and maintenance techniques. To learn how to get involved in IMBA's work in Australia, please contact IMBA or MTBA. |
