What would we do without trails?

Tanasi Trails Epic Celebration, Ocoee, Tennessee

Several people worked very hard to make sure the November 2004 Tansai Trails Epic Celebration weekend went off without a hitch. The Southern Off Road Bicycling Association's (SORBA) Chattanooga chapter added a special touch to the Epic weekend by organizing a Singletrack Rally on Friday. Several dozen mountain bikers gathered at the Rally in support of a plan to develop 100 miles of quality singletrack within 10 miles of Chattanooga by 2010.

Every aspect of the weekend was a success. More than 65 people dug in the dirt during Saturdayzs trailbuilding session. Approximately 90 riders saddled up for Sunday's ride which meandered through colorful forest, streams and down some wicked descents. The weekend provided an opportunity for local biking organizations to build partnerships, build some sweet trails and of course, ride till their legs fell off.

Mountain bikers from five states attended the SORBA hosted event. Special thanks to Santa Cruz and Bike Magazine for sponsoring the program, and to the numerous volunteers that made the weekend possible. It was truly epic.

Thanks to Jeffrey Schaarschmidt who collected and submitted the slideshow photographs.
