What would we do without trails?

West Hawley, Massachusetts IMBA Epic - September 8-9, 2001

The IMBA Epic Celebration Ride in in the West Hawley, Massachusetts was a great weekend of riding, trailwork and group camaraderie. Mountain bikers - including three IMBA state representatives - spent day one re-routing an old section of fall line trail in Savoy Mountain State Forest.

On day two Epic participants gathered to ride an array of trails in Savoy Mountain State Forest. After a big day in the saddle riders enjoyed a swim in the warm waters of Hallockville Pond.

Special thanks to local Tom McCrumm for his ground work organizing the event. Thanks also to ace chef Collette, the Massachusetts Student Conservation Association, and event sponsors Patagonia, SRAM, Bike Magazine and Hydrapak.

Below is a slideshow highlighting the West Hawley IMBA Epic Celebration. While this was a one time event, mountain bikers everywhere are encouraged to check out the trails of western Massachusetts' Kenneth DuBuque State Forest and Savoy Mountain State Forest.
