Wanting to better meet the needs of mountain bikers, MetroParks engaged IMBA's Midwest Regional Director, Andy Williamson, to discuss the development of a bike park at a new park entrance. To ensure that the concept was of the best quality, Andy utilized IMBA's Trail Building Fund to secure Trail Solutions' assistance.

Constructed urban bike park that contained a large pumptrack, dirtjumps lines, and freeride terrain.  Worked closely with volunteers to train them on building and maintenance.

Planned and designed a new singletrack trail system in the Superior National Forest.  The focus of the trail system was on providing a high-quality mountain bicycling experience while respecting existing hiking-only trail locations.

The Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce describes this area, two hours north of Minneapolis as ‘…home to astonishing mountain bike singletrack trails etched along the sides of 250 ft. slag piles overlooking 500-ft deep crystal clear mine pools.”  If ever there was a fascinating landscape for trails, this is it.
