IMBA Canada is seeking a part time coordinator to represent Alberta in the Regional Office program. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate, with a solid background in mountain bike advocacy in Alberta.
Along with regional staff in BC, Ontario and Quebec, the Alberta coordinator will achieve the following goals for mountain biking in their region: convenient access to appealing trails, trailbuilding expertise, a positive image, and political influence.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing a clearinghouse of information and resources to benefit land managers, trail user groups, individual mountain bikers and outdoor industry retailers
- Creation of a Regional Leadership Advisory Council for the region they are representing
- Assisting local/provincial government in the creation of mountain bike and trail policy for their regions
- Providing a communications mechanism for sharing regional information as it pertains to mountain biking, trails, and trail-related events
- Reporting to IMBA Canada National Office, so that the head office can support their needs, share their successes nationwide, and garner the support of mountain bikers across Canada when major issues arise
- Attending meetings on IMBA Canada’s behalf
- Engaging the support of the larger mountain bike and trails community
- Providing one IMBA Trailbuilding Workshop in the region per year
- Assisting in the planning of the bi-annual IMBA Canada Provincial Mountain Bike Summit when it is their year to host
- Promoting the IMBA Canada Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day in their region
- Actively promoting IMBA Canada
- Attending monthly IMBA Canada staff calls
- Contributing provincial stories to the IMBA Canada Blog
The part time position will involve approximately 20 hours per month, and will start in June.
