James Brown, BC Regional Coordinator
James was the first provincial rep to join the IMBA Canada staff in 2004. Although it was a volunteer position until 2008, he has participated in many advocacy initiatives to provide access opportunities and funding for mountain bicycling in British Columbia. James was also instrumental in setting up and enhancing the insurance program for IMBA Canada affiliate clubs. As a seasoned rider James enjoys hitting the trail no matter what the terrain. In his professional life he is a commercial photographer based in Victoria, BC.
Chad and Deanne Lazaruk, IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew
IMBA Canada’s first official Trail Care Crew hails from beautiful Victoria, BC. The couple has been involved in all aspects of the mountain bike community including race organization, officiating, coaching, and of course, trailbuilding. Before hitting the road, Chad worked as a medical imaging technologist and Deanne was a crew leader and trailbuilder in BC. When they are not traveling and exploring new trails, Chad immerses himself in wine making, while Deanne loves to prepare good food to accompany the wine.
Jason Murray, Ontario Regional Coordinator
Founder of the Durham Mountain Biking Association, Jason has been riding on dirt for over twenty years. During this time he has raced, coached other riders, and was a provincial commissaire. A turning point came when he was asked to sign a petition to keep a popular riding spot in his area open to mountain biking. This lead him to learn the art of trailbuilding, and eventually take on the role as Ontario rep for IMBA Canada. Jason's day job is in information security. When not working, riding, building, or advocating he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Jérôme Pelland, Quebec Regional Coordinator
Co-founder of the ADSVMQ, Quebec’s trail advocacy organization, Jérôme Pelland takes care of IMBA’s regional office program in la belle province. He is the co-author of the "Guide d'Aménagement des Sentiers de Vélo de Montagne", a book based on IMBA’s Trail Solutions and Managing Mountain Biking. After leading the trailbuilding division of the ADSVMQ for three years, Jérôme has started his own company, Sentiers Boréals. Based in Granby, QC, Jerome rides both cross-country and downhill, and loves long and flowy, technical trails on his singlespeed!
Rachael Raven, Trail Care Crew and Communications Coordinator
Rachael is coordinating the Canadian office’s newest program, the IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew. When she’s not planning Trailbuilding Schools, Rachael writes content for Trail News and other IMBA publications. She is also helping to revamp IMBA's website and grow IMBA Canada's online presence. Rachael has a degree in journalism and political science from Carleton University. Based out of the national capital region in Gatineau, QC, she loves to ride cross-country and downhill, swim, and practice yoga.
Daniel Scott, Trail Specialist, IMBA Canada
Brought onboard in the spring of 2009, Daniel spearheads IMBA Canada's consulting service, Trail Solutions. Daniel is a graduate of the University of Guelph's School of Landscape Architecture, and holds a certificate in Mountain Bike Operations from Capilano University. His passion for trails and adventure, along with his strong work ethic, solid design background, and dedication to sustainable recreation practices make him an asset to IMBA Canada's expanding team.
Lora Woolner, Executive Director, IMBA Canada
Lora assumed the position of Executive Director for IMBA Canada in January 2010. Lora brings a depth of knowledge and experience to the position from advocacy and fundraising to volunteer development and association management. Lora began her involvement with IMBA in the late 90’s when she worked as the Mountain Bike Coordinator for Conservation Halton in Ontario; a position, which she held for 4 years. In 2002 Lora joined IMBA as part of the Subaru / IMBA Trail Care Crew where she and her husband Mark Schmidt lead more than 75 IMBA Trailbuilding Schools. After 3 years of traveling around North America, Lora and Mark took their passion for trails back home, where they opened IMBA’s Canadian office in 2005. In addition to improving mountain bike opportunities through the work of IMBA Canada, Lora has experience teaching at Capilano University's Mountain Bike Operations Program, as a lead instructor in the Park and Trail Design and Event Management courses. Lora enjoys mountain biking and running, and spends most of her time exploring the world with her husband and two little girls. She is based out of the IMBA Canada office in Kitchener, Ontario.
