IMBA - International Mountain Bicycling Association
What would we do without trails?

Support IMBA Canada's Legal Advocacy Fund!

Just weeks ago, mountain bikers across North America were preparing for the worst: Oil drills surfacing alongside iconic Utah trails like Moab’s Porcupine Rim. But IMBA, working together with partners like the Outdoor Industry Association, took action to stop this potentially devastating plan.

Will you help us fight the next wave of attacks against mountain biking? Right now your gift of $25, $40, $100 — or more, if possible — is critical.

Contributions from riders like you are essential for protecting prized riding areas. When Ontario Provincial Parks decided to reverse the initial decision to ban bikes from the new Kawartha Highlands Signature Site, it set a critical precedent: Recreation is an important and valuable resource. IMBA Canada’s influence on matters like these is growing, but we can do so much more to protect mountain biking resources.

Remember, every lawsuit and every decision that excludes bikes — whether it’s made in Utah or Ontario, the U.S. or Canada — adversely affects riding for everyone. Such decisions guide legislators and land managers across provincial and national lines and it is imperative that we continue building successes.

In the last 12 months we have been busy working for mountain bike access across the country:

  • Making sure mountain bikers are at the table with the BC Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts in the development of the BC Trails Strategy.
  • Creating a compilation of Best Management Practices for Trails for Canada’s National Parks that includes bicycles.
  • Maintaining access to the best mountain bike club insurance, to protect the work of mountain bike advocacy groups across Canada.

We need your help to keep the momentum going as we strive to achieve bike-friendly policies across the political spectrum. Please make a gift to the Canadian Legal Advocacy Fund today.

Opposition to mountain biking remains fierce in certain communities across the nation. In Ontario, upcoming management plan reviews threaten to ban bikes from well-established riding areas. In other places, anti-bike groups are imploring land managers to lump bicycles with off-road vehicles in their management strategies.

Help define mountain biking as a low-impact activity by making your Legal Fund donation today.Your gift will provide IMBA Canada with the resources we need to educate trail users about the impact of bikes and argue against false claims used to exclude us from appropriate riding opportunities.

We have an opportunity to build upon our recent successes, but not without your support.

Together, we have made incredible progress, but numerous threats still loom. It’s time to take advantage of our momentum and invest in new relationships that will serve all riders for years to come. Help us defend your right to ride your most loved trails. Help IMBA Canada have a loud and clear voice in Ottawa. Please show your support of IMBA’s work by donating to the Canadian Legal Advocacy Fund. We are committed to representing your interests and we can’t do it without your help.
